JAG PANZER

Jag Panzer came together in late 1981, being inspired by the onslaught of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The original line-up consisted of Harry Conklin on vocals (later nicknamed the “Tyrant”), Mark Briody (who was the sole guitarist of the group in its first incarnation), John Tetley who played the bass, and Rick Hilyard as the drummer. DARK ANGEL

Dark Angel formed in 1983 in Downey, California, right around the time when the Bay Area thrash movement was beginning to take place. They played in local bars and clubs, acquiring a cult following in the metal underground. JAMES RIVERA

James Rivera is a heavy metal singer; he was the singer for Seven Witches between 2002 and 2005. As of May 2007, he has been a metal frontman for twenty-four years and has recorded fourteen albums. He sang with Power/Speed Metal act Helstar, a band established in the early 1980s in Houston, Texas. HELSTAR

TESTAMENT

Testament was one of the first thrash metal bands to emerge from the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980’s. Originally formed as ‘Legacy’ in 1983 by founding members Eric Peterson (rhythm guitar), Derrick Ramirez (guitar) and Louie Clemente (drums), the line-up included vocalist Steve Souza and Greg Christian (bass). HIRAX

HIRAX is an American thrash metal band from Cypress, California. Starting in 1984 under the leadership of vocalist Katon W. De Pena (the band’s only original member of the current line-up), the band played in Los Angeles and San Francisco with the other new thrash metal bands of the area such as Metallica, Exodus, and Slayer.
